Long Weekend in Barbados: Scuba Diving, Sunset Dinners & Catamaran Magic
Thursday Arrival in Barbados
After a smooth arrival into Barbados, I went straight to the hotel to settle in and prep for an adventure-filled weekend on this gorgeous Caribbean island. I spent the afternoon working, and then made my way out to walk along the boardwalk before sunset, and grab a bite to eat at Tapas.
Friday: Scuba Diving & Friday Night Fun
Scuba Diving in Barbados
I kicked things off with a morning dive with West Side Scuba Centre. My first dive that morning was just one other diver and myself and we ended up at Friars Crag and Roundbar Reef, a wreck not too far off the shore. The moment I got in the water, I realised we were in for seriously choppy conditions and a major current. Unfortunately, it was a short dive as the other the diver could not handle their buoyancy in the conditions and quickly used up all their air, and the dive master wasn’t prepared for the circumstances.

The second dive was in famous Carlisle Bay, known for its calm waters and multiple shallow wrecks teeming with marine life. We managed to dive through all six wrecks with ample time. This included, Bajan Queen, a former party boat, Berwyn, a well-preserved WWI-era ship, Cornwallis, a Canadian freighter that was torpedoed during World War II, Ellion, a former drug-running vessel, Ce-Trek, a sunken tugboat, and Barge, a large flat bottomed vessel.
Poolside Vibes & Naru Dinner
After diving, I met up with Adam, Mark and Ali at Bougainvillea for lunch and a relaxing dip in the pool. That evening, we headed to Naru Restaurant & Lounge on the South Coast for asian/seafood and ocean views.
Oistins Fish Fry
No Barbados Friday night is complete without experiencing the legendary Oistins Fish Fry—where locals and tourists gather for grilled fish, rum punch, music, and dancing. We were pretty tired from soaking in all the sun earlier, but we stopped by to check out the scene and grab a rum punch.

Saturday: Resort R&R & Sunset at Champers
We spent Saturday soaking up the sun—splitting time between Maxwell Beach and the resort pool.
For dinner, we had an oceanfront table at Champers Restaurant, one of the island’s best fine dining spots. The crashing waves and pastel sunset from the terrace made the evening unforgettable.

Sunday: Snorkeling with Turtles & Sailing with Silver Moon
Catamaran Cruise with Silver Moon
Sunday was the highlight: we sailed up the platinum west coast Silver Moon Barbados. We had a luxurious catamaran filled with only 12 guests, making it really intimate. Additionally, the crew were great about passing appetizers, refilling any drink of your choice and creating a laid-back and luxurious environment.

We also made a few stops to swim and snorkel, with the highlight being a snorkel stop with two sea turtles.

The Boatyard
Post-sail, we headed to The Boatyard beach club, where we played on the water trampoline and slid into the sea like big kids.
Dinner in St. Lawrence Gap
After a quick resort refresh, we had dinner at Cocktail Kitchen in St. Lawrence Gap, a lively strip full of bars, restaurants, and nightlife. The cocktails were good and made for a perfect ending to our trip.
Monday: A Farewell Taste of Barbados
Before heading to the airport, we made the most of our final few hours: one last dip in the pool, one more beachfront breakfast, and then a farewell stop at Chefette at the airport—a beloved local fast food chain famous for its chicken tenders and roti.
Final Thoughts
Whether diving wrecks, sailing into the sunset, or chilling at the resort, it was an amazing long weekend with good food and friends!
