This past weekend, 17 ladies descended upon Italy’s fashion capital for a weekend of food, wine and shopping.
Our little boutique hotel, Hotel Maison Casa Borella, was in the Navigli area, right along the canal. While this made for some noise when you tried to sleep, it also provided for easy access to the bars and restaurants right along the canal. Therefore, even when landing late Friday night, we still managed to catch the tail end of drinks before the bars closed.
The weekend was filled with delicious Italian food – pasta, pizza, crepes and croissants filled with nutella and of course, gelato! I’m not sure how the Italians maintain their figures, but perhaps it is the retail therapy – boutiques lined the street, filled with high-heeled shoes and designer clothes.
While the main event of the weekend was centered around food and drink, we did manage to squeeze in some culture – visiting La Scala, the Duomo and even the local castle. After all, no European city trip is complete without visiting the castle.
