  >  Destinations  >  Hungary  >  Lonyay Utca

If you are still reading my posts, you may be wondering why I have called this Lonyay Utca. This is because the first (and one of very few) words that I learned in Hungarian is utca. Utca means Street, and Lonyay Utca is the street I stayed on.

In case you really care about streets:

Utca (u.). It is important to note that this is different from út and there can be an “utca” and an “út” with the same name referring to different places (e.g. “Váci utca” and “Váci út”).

utca = street
út= road (It is longer than a street)
tér= square
körút (krt.)= round boulevard (this is a road that makes almost a circle)
köz = a very short street, often one-way
