7 hours in Hong Kong
I was landing in HK at 5am, but my connecting flight to Bali was at 12:30pm, so I decided I would make the most of the city.
Upon arrival, I cleared customs and then headed over the the Cathay Arrivals lounge for a shower and small bite to eat. This worked out perfectly because the train into the city only started running at 5am. I then bought a same-day return ticket for Hong Kong station and headed into Central.
After a quick walk around Central, I took the Star Ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui and then walked around there – it was early enough on a Sunday that it was really peaceful. As the city awoke, I appreciated the locals waking up for their morning garden walk in the Garden of the Stars or tai chi session on the pier.
After soaking in the view, I went back across the harbour to Central, walked around a bit and headed back to the airport.
I had a bit more time, but decided to check out the vast array of Cathay Pacific lounges in the airport. As a OneWorld Emerald card holder, I had access to the First lounges as well, which have full service restaurants, massages and day suites. I managed to squeeze in a small nap along with a nice brunch before the onward journey.
